T-minus 54

Just another quick one. 55 squats, 15 press ups & 20 crunches today. Other than the toasted cheese for supper food wise I was pretty good. Could really do with cutting out the bread though. Didn’t manage to get the bike carrier fitted to the car, will need to look out instructions for it, but I did get Ethan’s bike set up. Hopefully he’ll start going it soon, he definitely seems to be making a start, then we can all get out family bike rides. Gonna hit the gym on the way home from work tomorrow.

This got me going tonight (I was there)

Having worked shifts for many, many years I have learned that whilst there are positives in shift work, there are definitely negatives. One which I’m experiencing at the moment is the occasional run of shifts you get where you get stuck with the idiot. But not just any idiot. The guy I’ve been blessed with over my last 3 shifts is of the type so pompous and self important that he’ll phone his wife and follow you from one room to another so you can’t escape overhearing his conversation. The type of guy who will regale you with the same story over and over and it’s usually about money. The sad thing is, it’s never his money. It’s always about how much his friends have spent on a new car. How much their house is worth. How they go 4 holidays a year, each one more exotic. And he thinks you should be impressed by him because he knows these people. Because people this successful deem fit to keep him around. I’m coming to the end of my third shift in a row with him and I’m at the point where I can’t speak to him anymore. Everything I say, he has to try and trump it and you just know its utter garbage.
But the worst of it is he just doesn’t listen. The only interest he takes in anyone else’s life is as a potential cue for another of his soliloquies and it’s ever so wearisome. I just want to go home 😦
